Martin Heidegger’s writings on the Greeks have done much to stimulate
new, original research, new ways of thinking about the Greeks. The contributors
to this volume, even those who take a critical stance toward
Heidegger’s interpretation, have clearly learned much from him and are
indebted to his groundbreaking thinking. We hope that together, the essays
in this volume will continue the important new dialogue with Greek
thinking begun and stimulated by Heidegger.
